I want to have one sticky thread that lists the actual facts about the "Cake" project. We're happy to have the community brainstorm and speculate, but to avoid confusion I'll list any confirmed information here in a locked thread. Cake is a code name, only chosen because of the association to Fat Princess so people can make the mental connection. Cake will not be the final name, as there is no cake in the game. It has always been Carbon's plan to make Rook (AirMech's code name) and Cake from the start. AirMech is the "smaller" project and provides the tech foundation to create Cake, which is why they are done in this order. Cake is not in active development, besides throwing around ideas. We have art, but most of what we need is on the engine and tech side, which is why all progress on AirMech is really progress towards Cake. Carbon will operate both AirMech and Cake indefinitely. They are different games, but share tech, which is why it is structured this way. Even when we do start on Cake, it will not mean we are doing any less for AirMech. Being an avid AirMech player will be the best way to be among the first to alpha test Cake. - James Green, developer of Fat Princess here is the link to more info at the official forum. www.carbongames.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=27&sid=4fce5a67b2bae005933b33ba581eec8d

Carbon Games response:
We'd develop it the same way as AirMech. PC first (for flexibility) and then do all the other platforms.
We actually made Fat Princess the same way. The game was entirely developed on PC using Xbox360 controllers, and only put on the PS3 for porting. The game itself ran fine on PC and could have been released if Sony had allowed it. it.

We want to get AirMech well under control before digging into another project--we could have started Cake, or console versions of AirMech. Because console versions help PC AirMech by investing more time/money into it, we decided to focus on AirMech for now.
We still really want to do Cake, and it will be started as soon as we grow enough to where we don't compromised AirMech development by working on it. (meaning new team members either work on Cake under our direction, or new people come to work on AirMech, and we focus on Cake)
